Our story

A clear path should not be a privilege.

Health Mentors began with a gap seen up close: students with the ability to serve their communities often had no one nearby who could explain how to get there.

While working around health-care disparities in tribal and rural communities, John saw how geography compounds a quieter problem. Students may see the need in their community, but not the steps between where they are and a career that lets them meet it.

The answer is often a person who can describe the path honestly: a nurse, physician, PA, pharmacist, therapist, researcher, public-health professional, or someone in another part of health care.

A clear path should not depend on geography or family connections.

Health Mentors makes those people easier to find and facilitates one introduction. The mentor decides whether to reply, and any relationship continues naturally over email.
