1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Health Mentors (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. “You” means the person using the Service, whether as a mentee seeking guidance, a mentor offering it, or an attendee registering for a workshop.
2. Who can use Health Mentors
During this MVP, the Service is available only to adults age 18 or older who reside in the United States. One account per person. Registering for a workshop requires an account, and so the same confirmation that you are 18 or older; workshops are designed for students exploring health careers, and a teacher, counsellor or parent may register and bring a group. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, and for keeping it current.
3. What the Service is — and isn't
Health Mentors is a directory of verified professionals with two ways to contact a mentor, and a schedule of free group workshops. When you choose, we either send your conversation request to a mentor and host a text-only conversation on Health Mentors if they accept, or deliver a one-time email introduction to the mentor, after which any reply continues over regular email, outside the Service. We do not match you algorithmically, guarantee that a mentor will accept or reply, monitor conversations in real time, host or monitor email that follows an introduction, arrange one-to-one meetings between you and a mentor, or manage a mentoring relationship.
Workshopsare scheduled group sessions we announce and run — you register with your account, we send you a confirmation and reminders, the link to join appears an hour before the session starts, and you can cancel your place from any of those emails or from the workshop schedule. A workshop may be moved, changed or cancelled; we will email everyone registered if that happens. Sessions held on a third-party platform are subject to that provider's own terms (see §15), and attending one does not create a mentoring relationship.
4. Educational purpose only
Guidance shared through the Service is educational and career-oriented. It is not medical, mental-health, legal, admissions, employment, or emergency advice, and it does not create a doctor–patient or other professional relationship. Verify important decisions independently with qualified professionals. Health Mentors is not an emergency service — in an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
5. The AI Mentor
The optional AI Mentor (formerly called the “AI Career Guide”) is an artificial-intelligence tool, clearly labeled as AI. It can be inaccurate or incomplete, is not professional advice, and is never a substitute for a human mentor or a licensed clinician. Do not enter sensitive personal, medical, or confidential information. Your inputs are processed by a third-party AI provider (see the Privacy Notice).
6. Messaging & email introductions
Conversations on Health Mentors
A mentee may request a conversation with a mentor who is open to new mentees. The mentor may accept or decline any request for any reason; a declined request is final, and a request that goes unanswered for 14 days closes automatically (it may then be sent again). Conversations take place on Health Mentors and are text only. Messages cannot be edited or deleted once sent. Neither person's email address is shown to the other.
Messages stay on Health Mentors and are visible only to the two participants. We do not monitor conversations in real time and are not responsible for what users write. Authorized staff read a conversation's messages only after one of its participants reports it, to investigate the report, enforce these Terms or the Rules of Engagement, or comply with the law; each such access is logged. Our technical operators' direct access to stored data is limited as described in the Privacy Notice.
Either participant may end a conversation, or a request (including one that expired), at any time. Ending is final: the other person cannot contact you there again. Either participant may also report a conversation, which ends it the same way and alerts our staff; the other person is told only that the conversation ended, not that it was reported or by whom. We may limit how often you can send messages, requests, or reports; close any conversation; and suspend accounts or remove mentors from the directory, which ends their conversations (a conversation ended that way may be requested again later).
Follow the Rules of Engagement in every conversation, and in particular:
- keep it about health-care education and careers;
- do not ask for or give personal medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment;
- do not pressure anyone to move the conversation to another app, phone number, or account;
- do not share another person's personal information, or ask for anyone's private records.
One-time email introductions
A mentee may instead send a mentor a one-time email introduction. We deliver the mentee's message and email address to the mentor; any reply, and all further communication, happens over regular email. We may limit how many introductions you send (currently three in 24 hours, and one per mentor per week).
Communication outside Health Mentors
If you continue any contact outside Health Mentors — including email after an introduction — Health Mentors is not a party to and does not host, see, monitor, or take responsibility for it. Use good judgment.
7. Acceptable use & conduct
You agree to follow the Rules of Engagement. In particular, you will not:
- request or offer money, gifts, secrecy, or anything of value in exchange for guidance;
- harass, threaten, or make romantic or sexual advances;
- pressure anyone to move contact off Health Mentors, or share another person's personal information without their permission;
- request medical treatment, prescriptions, diagnoses, or private records;
- promise or imply guaranteed admission, employment, shadowing, or outcomes;
- scrape, spam, impersonate, or otherwise misuse the Service or its data.
8. Verification — what it means
Mentors provide a LinkedIn profile (and, for physicians, an NPI) so we can manually review the consistency of their public information. Verification is not a background check, an endorsement, a guarantee of credentials, or a warrantyof a mentor's quality or availability.
9. Your account
Keep your login credentials secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You may request deletion of your account at any time through the contact page. We may suspend or remove accounts for inaccurate information, misuse, security concerns, or legal reasons. Suspending or deleting an account ends its conversations; the other participant keeps their copy until it is erased on the schedule in the Privacy Notice.
10. Content & intellectual property
The Service, its content, and its branding belong to Health Mentors. You keep the rights to the content you submit (your profile, messages, and quiz responses) and grant Health Mentors a limited license to display and process that content solely to operate the Service. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.
11. Fees
The Service is currently free to mentees, mentors and workshop attendees. If we introduce any charges in the future, we will disclose them clearly before they apply.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that mentor information is accurate, that mentors are available, or that you will receive a reply.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Health Mentors is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for the conduct of any mentor, mentee, or third party, including the content of messages users send each other through on-site messaging, and for any communications that occur off-platform, including email that follows an introduction.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Health Mentors harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
15. Third-party links & services
The Service links to and relies on third parties (for example LinkedIn, the public NPI Registry, the video-conferencing and calendar providers used for workshops, and our infrastructure, email, and AI providers). We are not responsible for the content, terms, or practices of those third parties.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The specific venue and dispute-resolution process will be finalized with counsel before launch.
18. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms together with the Privacy Notice are the entire agreement between you and Health Mentors regarding the Service. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.
